The Bishop (formerly Episcop) is the village priest and as the keeper of the local graveyard you'll be seeing him quite often. As a visitor NPC he is only available to talk to on when he has arrived at the church.
Quests[ | ]
Fix the Graveyard[ | ]
Upon arriving at the graveyard for the first time he will acknowledge you as the new graveyard keeper. He asks you to improve the graveyard to 5 , and after doing so he will give you the Preacher Perk allowing you to hold sermons in the local church and gaining access to the alchemy lab and the study table in the cellars. You'll earn 10
from this.
Note that when you open the church, it counts as your prayer for the day. You will not be able to choose a prayer to get faith or donations for the service. After the ceremony, the Bishop disappears from his usual post next to the church for the remainder of the day.
Bowls for the Soup Kitchen[ | ]
Bishop needs 20×
Ceramic bowls to serve soup at his Soup Kitchen near the Church. He gives you access to "The Concept of Dirt" technology which lets you gather sand and clay. To make his bowls you'll need to get clay from digging at any of the craggy holes around the map (one is directly south of the graveyard), and then use it with water at the potter's wheel. You'll earn 10 from bringing the bowls and the "Cleric's Beginner's Guide" worth
+5.
Improve the Graveyard[ | ]
To expand the church he requests you to get the graveyard to 30 . You receive 5
for completing the quest.
Improve the Church[ | ]
Furthermore, he requests you to get the church to 20 . By using candles in the candelabra I or candelabra II, you can increase the score temporarily and finish the task without having to build an expensive interior. You receive 5
for completing the quest.
Bring Quality Fish Fillets[ | ]
The Bishop would like some freshly caught 4×
Quality fish fillet (Must be ) because he can't eat meat. Bream is catchable with a 100% rate at the river far north of the church (you need to unblock the path) without bait. You can also catch it at the waterfall fishing spot which is across the stone bridge west of the graveyard and directly north using
Maggot as bait. You can also purchase them from the lighthouse. The fillet itself is prepared in your kitchen. You receive 10 for completing the quest.
Bring a Building Permission[ | ]
After delivering 4×
Quality fish fillet the bishop will complain about bureaucracy. You have to bring him a
Building permission (it costs 20 ) to transform the church into a big church. Bear in mind though, after the upgrade, you won't be able to do any church services until you become a rightful citizen, that's another
3 .
Improve the Church further[ | ]
He wants you now to improve the church once more, this time to 50 though!
Improve the Graveyard further[ | ]
As before, but now he wants you to increase your graveyard to 200 .
Gold Quality Marble Statues[ | ]
After your graveyard reaches 100 , he admires your graveyard and suddenly realizes he needs 3×
A carved piece of marble of himself! Three of quality, to be exact. Hand those over for 10
. You should now have 70
and could ask to upgrade your church to a cathedral.
Please note, your chances to get
A carved piece of marble of quality increases to 80% percent once you have unlocked the tricks of the trade perk from the tech tree.
WARNING: You will need (No longer required to preach - potential temporary Bug?)
aristocrat papers and an
accepted invitation to perform any church services in the cathedral. (The Inquisitor works for this.)
Bring Aristocrat Papers[ | ]
After upgrading to the cathedral, speak to the bishop and he will tell you he needs
aristocrat papers.
You can become an aristocrat via the royal services in front of the church for 12 . You then get the papers for free. Show them to the bishop for another 10
.
You will need them to hold services in the cathedral.(No longer required - potential Bug?)

Bring an Accepted Invitation[ | ]
After upgrading to the cathedral, the Bishop also demands an
Accepted invitation from you.
Speak to the Inquisitor about the papers, but he will turn you down. You will need to get the invitation from the merchant instead. This can only be done once you have reached 90 with the merchant. Turn in the invitation for another 10
.
Hold the Ceremony[ | ]
Once you have turned in both required papers, you should have acquired 90 with the Bishop and will be able to hold the ceremony.
Speak with the Bishop again to finish his quest line. You see a cutscene, where the two brothers reunite and earn the achievement "Two Brothers". You will receive the
Mirror of pride from the Bishop and the
Salty fork from the merchant.
Note that when you hold the ceremony, it counts as your prayer for the day (at least if you hold the ceremony before doing a prayer). You will not be able to choose a prayer to get faith or donations for the service. After the ceremony, the Bishop disappears from his usual post next to the church for the remainder of the day.
Trading[ | ]
Selling[ | ]
- The cost of communion cookies does not inflate.
|
|
|
Purchasing[ | ]
- Will not buy back their inventory, except at Tier III.
- Will not buy related oddities, such as paper products, beeswax, or hemp rope.
- Selling most sermons is ill-advised, as the requisite materials can be sold for more elsewhere. (see Astrologer)
Trivia[ | ]
- The statue which will be placed in the graveyard from fulfilling "Gold Quality Marble Statues" resembles "Buddy Christ" from the movie "Dogma".
