Snake failed the summoning. He needs you to get the original summoning book, the Necronomicon, from the Astrologer. Speak to the Astrologer and he'll say that he gave it to the Lighthouse Keeper. Speak to the Lighthouse Keeper and give him 5 Maggots in exchange for the Necronomicon. Return to Snake for 10 
. In Stranger Sins you learn that Clotho ordered Dig to write it so she could enact vengeance upon the townspeople.
